Zoe and puppies

We bring Zoe in to play with the puppies, even though they would still like to nurse she is done with that, so it becomes run around the kitchen . . . . .it is a funny site to see.

Freedom . . .

I than move them all in the kitchen and they play HARD, nonstop for over an hour. Than they crash!!

What I see in the morning. . . .

The puppies hear me when I get up and start making noise the minute they know I am downstairs. I feed them right away which settles them down for a few minutes but as soon as they are down this is what happens . . . .

Eye exams

The puppies all had their CERF eye exams last night. They all passed with flying colors. They were so good even the vet comment on what good puppies they were. In fact we didn't have one accident in the 45 minutes we were there. Now that is something to BRAG about!!

Puppy Weights

This may be the last update on the puppy weights, unless I can find another scale. The scale I use for young puppies is actually a deli scale that Tom got for me a few years ago. This scale is very sensitve and once they are 3-4 weeks and start moving around it can throw off their weight if if they have one paw off. We weighed them at the vet this morning and there was about a 2lb difference from my scale.

Oh, I finally got my car unstuck. Tom had to come up from town with a tow rope. I almost slid into a tree more than once. The van is now on the road and snow plow guy should be here sometime this evening. The joys of living in the mountains!!!!

My hero!! I can't back up so Tom did it for me!!

This is where I was stuck!!

And the tree that kept getting in the way!!!

6 Week check up!!

The puppies went in for their 6 week check up this morning and everyone passed with flying colors!!! The vet techs were arguing over who would help carry them in and of course everyone thought that they were adorable!

We had snow last night and I was a bit concerned about the drive down but that was all OK. It was getting up my driveway that proved to be the problem. I GOT STUCK!!! We do get our drive plowed but we have to have at least 6 inches, which we do, but our plow guy tries to come after it is done snowing. SOooooooo I had to carry 8 puppies up the drive, through the snow. After the first two I thought I would see if they would walk up, not so lucky.

By the time I got to the last two I decided to get some pictures. Yelllow boy wasn't sure he liked the snow and Blue Mist was having a blast!!

A bit of a scare!!

I was cleaning out the whelping box and heard a puppy scream. It didn't take long to realized some one was in trouble. I ran to the kitchen and Red boy has his tooth caught in the side of the crate. Seven other puppies were watching in horror!! It didn't take long to get his tooth unstuck and after some hugs he was back playing again.

I am trying . . . . .

I have had quite a few requests do shoot some more video and I am trying!! There is just one problem . . . . I sit on the floor with my camera and within seconds I have 8 puppies in my lap. Tom will be home tonight and I will enlist his help. Instead here are some stills. These were done after they had played and are settling in for their morning nap.

Good morning!!!

This is what welcomes me every morning when I come downstairs. I am in puppy heaven!!

Potty training . . .

The puppies have started their potty training and are really doing well. We started just over a week ago and this morning was the first morning that their wasn't a mess on their bedding . . . . should I be knocking on wood??? They are smart puppies!! All puppies want to be clean, it is a natural instinct.

For years I have used wood shavings which worked quite well and the puppies would smell good but the downside was I would have wood shavings EVERY WHERE! This year I tried SecondNature Dog Litter which is paper pellets and I am a convert!! It is expensive, $20.00 a bag vs $5.00 a bag but I am not vacumning 2 - 3 times a day. A friend said she used to find wood shavings in her refridgerator. . . .yuk!!

Bath time

The puppies had their first bath Saturday night. I don't know who was more pooped afterwards me or the puppies! It was much easier when my boys were still at home . . . . we had a production line going . . . . . I would bath them, one would towel dry and the other would use the dryer! Last night I did two puppies at a time (sounds a bit crazy but it worked), after the wash and rinse I wrapped them each up in a towel, like a little papoose, dried one and than the other. I had them both on the grooming table and I was moving so fast they didn't have time to think about what was happening and we were done before they did!!

I just wish they would stay clean longer.
